Rules for sleeping

February 28, 2007 at 11:15 pm | In Uncategorized | 5 Comments

I thought for a change of pace, I would respond to an interesting yet not earth impacting blog article.  I found a blog that wrote about 5 things that a person should not do when they are sleeping.   The rules are as follows:DON’T SLEEP WITH A WATCH ON OR NEAR YOUR HEAD
Apparently watched emit radioactivity, well honestly I don’t know if I ever want to wear a watch again now, it’s not like radioactivity only affects you when you are sleeping.

DON’T SLEEP WITH A BRA ON (boys this obviously doesn’t pretain to you, go to the next rule)
Scientists in America have discovered that wearing bras for more than 12 hours have a higher risk of getting breast cancer. So go to bed without it.  Hmmm very interesting to know.

DON’T SLEEP WITH A PHONE, cell or regular
Putting the phone beside your bed or anywhere near you is not encouraged.  Interesting enough because I know when I am home along my cell or the house phone are right next to me. Scientists have proved that electrical items including mobile phones and television sets emit magnetic waves when used. These waves can cause disruptions to our nervous system.  Why would you ever put it next to you again, it’s just so dangerous.

DON’T SLEEP WITH MAKE UP ( again boys continue reading)
People who sleep with make up might have skin problems in the long run and problem in perspiring. You will also need a much longer time to go into deep sleep.  How on earth does wearing makeup affect your sleep?  I understand the whole skin issues but sleeping?  There might have to  be another blog entry on that.

DON’T SLEEP WITH OTHERS’ WIFE
You may never wake up again. This is no joke. Its been researched before.  Okay, I think this is sort of common sense.

Overall I think that these rules have humor to them yet they are very insightful and truthful.  It has made me aware of a few facts that I did not know before, and I will be sure to spread them on.

  1. This was interesting and I will take these things into consideration. I knew some but phone thing I didn’t and I will remember that when I go to sleep! thank’s!

  2. I knew a few of those, such as the makeup thing leading to poor skin, but like you, it never occurred to me that it would actually make it harder to fall asleep. I also don’t really see how wearing a bra leads to breast cancer — I’d like to know what specific aspects of it contribute to cancer though. I have to say that I don’t sleep with my cell phone near me or with my watch on, but it is scary that these are so harmful to our bodies because I KNOW that sleep isn’t the only time these objects emit harmful particles. I liked this list a lot because it offers helpful hints, but it also has some humor to it.

  3. I think your blog was very interesting and they are definitely things that I’ve never heard of before. I think it’s definitely important to know these things, not only when you are sleeping, but all the time. I sleep with my cell phone next to my bed everynight & I didn’t know it could be harmful. I think alot of the explanations have a little bit of humor in them but regardless they are important. Thanks for the advice!

  4. THis was a very entertaining article to read. I do almost all of these things though and I think I might want to change my habits. I sleep with my cell phone next to me in bed everynight, either for phone calls or because its my cell phone alarm. I also almost always fall asleep with a bra on. The funny thing, I heard it keeps your breasts perky, hahahah, not that it causes breast cancer. And lastely I almost always fall asleep with the days makeup on. I think that mostly has to do wtih my laziness and not feeling like gettign up and washign my face. This article definetly encouraged me to want to change my habits.

  5. These are excellent pieces of advice. I particularly like the last one. Who researched that and how? Regardless, it’s nice to see a light hearted post. I mean seriously, we all seem to be writing about HPV, Rape, Eating Disorders, Torture and a hand full of other really heavy topics. Of course, that is fine, we need to write about what matters to us but man lol its nice to read something that makes me laugh. A line from Garden State comes to mind, it is something like “ if you cant laugh about it, life is going to seem a whole lot longer then you want.”
