With American courts passing Bush’s anti-terror law it bring to my mind, is it moral or not?  Is our culture one that accepts killing of these evil,american hating terrorists?  I think so.  Bush’s anti-terror law sounds like a good diea, but i feel that we should just put these men in jails for te rest of their lives.  I feel like, yes they hate us and we hsould get rid of them before they kill us but aren’t we the nes who supported the iraqi’s, a few years ago, givin them weapons of mass destruction and now we want to go into their country and take them all bakc?  Not how it works.  America changes her mind all the time due to the difference of opinions in Presidents and now this President wants to take the lives of terrorists, but if their country did the same thing to american troops we would be bombing more and attacking their country until there was nothing left of it.  How can we be so two faced?  What do you think?

After reading one of the comments left I realized that this comment, “It seems to me that this is many ways a new, backwards, Isolationism. The more we ignore the United Nations, and break international laws (including those governing torture and wartime behavior) the further we will find ourself from global aid when we realize that terrorism is an idea. An idea, perpetuated by oppression.”  This is a great quote. It points out that we feel we can do whatever we want with no reporocussions but no one else should break the law or there will be hell to pay from the U.S.   I think this is all somewhat ridiclious.

I thought for this weeks blog post I wouild write a response to an entertaining article that I read.  It’s all about nature’s natural aphrodisiacs.  I think in many ways this article ties into culture because it talks about men in all different countires trying different things, mainly eating gross items, all for a good time later that night.  The article talks about men in a Jamaican bar  all eating the same soup for dinner because it is supposed to get them ready for the coming night, now it seems that if there was a man in the bar not eating it, they would be teased and called a loser.  What kind of society and culture do we have in our world that if you aren’t eating gross discusting things then you are looked at as weird.   Even our famous  Casanova ate raw clams, to “ensure” himself of a “successful” night.  If I ever hear the term”Oh he’s such a Casanova, I think I will laugh out loud.

When I read the article I couldn’t believe that people atually eat these types of things, in my opinion they are old wives tales yetit seems there are people who take them very seriously. It’s weird to me, do you agree?

To celebrate Valentine’s Day being just around the corner, I decided to read a blog on Valentine’s Day.  Now if you are thinking, she’s just another pathetic person celebrating a Hallmark made holiday.  Well you’d be half right.  I think it’s great to send out messages of love on Valentine’s day BUT Ithink it’s something we as a human race should do all year long.  Hate less and love more.  I do agree though, that it is silly having one “special” day set aside for celebrating love.  Here are a few quotes I found funny from the blog page on Valentine’s Day:

I like this one because EVERYTHING for Valentine’s Day is so outrageously expensive, a card is five dollars, a small box a chocolate is fifteen dollars and roses for a dozen are sixty or even eighty places somwhere, and those roses never even seem to bloom.  In knowing how expensive everything is around the season of Valetine’s day can you imagine how expenisve those large boquets of flowers are that they have at funerals, probably a few hundred dollars.

This quote it funny to me because Men “have” to buy lots of Valentine stuff for women, and its all so expensive, but women don’t really buy anything for men.  It seems silly to me that it only should go one way.

I read a bloggers entry about Global Warming, the blog stated, “Here’s the question:
Global warming has been in the news big time lately. I wonder how it will affect everyone’s hobbies, especially mine. Will anyone need a warm handknit sweater in the future? Or will I gravitate to knitting floor coverings and other things that won’t warm me up” 

I found this interesting because we really don’t know what the future brings but our lives rest in the fate of the world.  People ski and iceskate now for exercise but in the future will that even be around?  It’s all is brain boggling.

After reading “What We’re Doing When We Blog” I have found an understanding to this whole “blog” thing.  I actually think I am going to enjoy it.  I feel that using this Blog for my writing will allow me to be more creative and write more freely.  The article said, “When we talk about weblogs, we’re talking about a way of organizing information, independent of its topic. What we write about does not define us as bloggers; it’s how we write about it (frequently, ad nauseam, peppered with links).”  This fact made me feel that through blogging, when I jot down my creative thoughts, I can then apply it to my current writing.  Often I find when I am writing I think of a good sentence and write it down somewhere to apply it and then I misplace it.  Now I can blog it and I won’t lose it.  I can also build off of my thought and free write about it.  The more creative I am the stronger my paper will be.

Blogging may be a newer way to write, and as we saw in a class video today, not all writers and keen on the idea of writing a book on a blog but I think it’s the new way to free write for our generation.  As a future teacher, my students, hopefully will have blogs in my classroom, they can communicate their thoughts, feelings, and express themselves.  They can communicate with their classmates via internet.  This is a postive way to interact when students seem to be shy with one another.  It’s a great way to get my students to open up to me and it will allow me to see what creative potential my students will have.

I was looking through different blog pages and came across a blog that follows a woman with cancer through her experience.  It has me think about my best friends mom, Sandy, who passed away almost 5 years ago from thyroid cancer.  It was such a hard time in our lives, here is this wonderful woman dying from such a horrible disease.  Although cancer is so terrible, not knowing all your facts about cancer helps make it even worse.  At the time we were freshmen in high school however we resarched for weeks all information we could find related to cancer.  I feel that following this woman, Marisa, on her journey is neat because it makes us aware, and awareness is key in fighting this disease. One good blogging site is known as Technorati.  It has links to all sorts of different blogs as well as providing stats to the blogs to see which are reliable and which sites people visit more often. It’s really interesting especially for beginner bloggers like myself because you can explore and see all different blog pages.  Check this blogging site out!

One news article that I looked at from salon.com talked about vegetarians vs.carnivores, which is the moral thing.  This artlice is interesting  and there are a lot more articles just as interesting such as the Bush and his failing raitings or miscouting ballots.  Check it out!
